What a day we got for the annual Rockport School Sports Day!

It was great to see such competitive effort on display. All our pupils were fantastic on the day, and it was fantastic to be able to honour all the sporting achievements from throughout this school year in our prize giving.

Thank you to all parents and friends of the school who attended, and to guest speaker - Old Rockportian Sally Bell, who spoke so well and distributed the many sporting awards.

Some of our Boarders had a blast this weekend, trying out Scrapyard Golf and Belfast’s very own Prison Island.

Pupils from Spain, France, China and Bahrain went head to head in a battle of intellect, technical ability and physical skill to take on the Prison Island Challenge; while younger pupils got to test out their Rockport golf training in a more unusual setting at Scrapyard Golf!

Great fun had by all, as always, thanks to our fantastic Weekend Boarding Team 😎

Our R5s jumped straight into a world of adventure on their recent residential and got glorious weather for it too ☀️🌞

A few key dates for the diary in this busy Summer term! ☀️

Huge thank you to @instonians_rfc for taking the time to come down to Rockport and give our Upper Junior boys a rugby training session. Lots of fun had by all involved!

When 40 netball teams, from schools as far away as Newry, arrive to play in the 28th Annual Rockport Invitational Netball Tournament.

Well done to everyone for the spirit in which the matches were played and congratulations to the winners.

Special thanks goes to all the bakers, and to those who helped with the BBQ.

The 80th anniversary of VE Day celebrated as it should be at Rockport School today with a picnic lunch, dancing, singing, football match and an assembly honouring those who fought for our freedom.

Introducing ‘Loserville’ by Rockport JDS…what an opportunity for our Upper Junior pupils - to perform an Olivier Award-nominated musical alongside the writer of the show!

They put in hundreds of hours rehearsing and were all amazing, here’s a snippet 🎭

Twenty Rockport pupils in 20 beanie hats, three teachers and one teddy bear took on Northumberland last week and what an experience they had!

There wasn’t an inch of Northumberland left to explore when our Upper Juniors completed their travels.

For many of them, the five day trip was the longest time spent away from family and they all conducted themselves so well, we are so proud of them!

Bee Musical was a fantastic show, and a credit to all the performing pupils, some as young as 2 and a half, and their amazing teachers.

A big thank you to @mcdonaldsuk Knocknagoney for inviting some of our Year 14 pupils for a store walk and interview with the Operations Manager Karl Wilkinson and HR Manager Megan Smith.

The pupils asked questions relating to the running of McDonalds, investigating their changes in terms of organisation structure, pricing strategies and use of marketing analysis tools. This was a great real-life learning experience for all our pupils!

A beautiful snippet of what the Royals got to enjoy today when our Sixth Form pupil Hannah performed for King Charles and Queen Camilla with her music tutor Mr Kevin Mawdsley in Cathedral Quarter, Belfast.

We take World Book Day very seriously here at Rockport, and what a day it was for our Upper Juniors and Early Years’ pupils!

With Upper Juniors reenacting scenes from some fabulous books including ‘Matilda’, ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and ‘Gangsta Granny’, our Early Years’ pupils had a real treat (and a real giggle!)

Even Mr Vance got in on the action, dressing up as Dr Thomas Arnold from ‘Tom Brown’s School Days’

Fantastic write up in the @belfasttelegraph today on our very own @benjibotham who came second in the @dailymail World Junior Golf Championship over the weekend.

Pupils of our on-site Rockport Golf Academy under PGA Pro Debbie Hanna, we are all thrilled for Benji and his brother Harley who are forging their way in the competitive world of golf.

Super news coming out of Spain 🇪🇸 tonight. Benji Botham has finished second in his age category in the World Junior Championships at Villa Padierna in Malaga.

Benji was lying in fourth place with 2 holes to go but a par, par finish with a 6 iron to 10 feet and two putts clinched second place. All in front of the crowd gathered around the 18th green. So proud of his never give up attitude.

Well done Benji.

There’s great excitement building here at Rockport as we prepare for boyband @absntmindmusic who are visiting next Thursday to put on a show for our R7-R12 pupils!

The band will be promoting positive personal development through the medium of live music and we can’t wait to experience it 🎹🎤🎸

Marvelling at some of these creations by our R10 pupils who have been learning how to use Photoshop in Digital Technology, with the theme of Distortion. They have been learning to replicate the work of @merveozaslancollage and @thomas_barbey ✨

On Saturday 17th May 2025 we are hosting the Rockport May Ball at Titanic Belfast.

Tickets are now on sale and are priced at £900 for a table of 10 (includes a champagne reception and wine at the table). Individual tickets will also be available priced at £95pp.

Our Year 13 pupils had a great morning at the @mcsgroupbelfast offices thanks to CIPD Northern Ireland, Danske Bank, Thales, Workplus, PwC and Eakin Healthcare. They got an invaluable insight into the opportunities available to them through degree apprenticeships.

Thank you to all involved, and to our fantastic pupils who, as always, conducted themselves so well throughout the event.

Our netball teams recently hosted 5 teams from Hoe Bridge School in Woking, Surrey. Across 6 matches played, we achieved 3 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw. All the girls played very well with 100% commitment, and we were very proud of them all!

Our team of Daisy Graham, Maisie Tolland, Annabella Cole, and Stella Brannigan finished second in the Year 7-9 Novice Level Northern Ireland Regional Championship 2024 this afternoon.

The girls now travel to the next round in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Super proud of them and Caitlin Ross who took part in the Elite Level competition.

Our carol singers are well rehearsed and looking forward to performing for you all in the beautiful St Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast on Friday.
