Rockport Sixth Form pupil Hannah had the incredible opportunity and honour recently to play for the King and Queen when they visited Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter.
Hannah was asked to join her music tutor Mr Mawdsley to perform 'Danny Boy' for King Charles and Queen Camilla as part of a celebration of the culture and Arts heritage Belfast has to offer.
With just 30 minutes notice, Hannah make her way up to Belfast and found herself playing the piece she had performed in church at our Founder’s Day service on Monday, on a violin that wasn’t even her own!
In true Hannah-style, she took it all in her stride, exhibiting those wonderful Round Square Discoveries of Courage and Sense of Responsibility. A fantastic achievement for both Hannah and Kevin and, as Hannah said upon her return, “You never know what you could be called on to do, so it’s important to always be ready!”
We hear the Royals were suitably impressed with the performance! We’re all very proud of Hannah.
