Rockport School takes Golf Academy to the next level

Rockport Golf Academy has tee’d off for the new term well above par with the appointment of PGA Professional, Debbie Hanna.

Debbie, who played herself at Junior and Senior Ulster and Ireland levels, including six seasons on the Ladies' European Tour, will take on the role of managing the academy, in line with the developing plans of the school.

Rockport Golf Academy was launched in 2016 and continues to go from strength to strength, with over 100 pupils getting first-class coaching within the school curriculum. Additionally, forty students are also advancing their skills on a weekly basis by participating in a golf intensive programme.

The academy, which was the first of its kind in Ireland provides a high-performance sports programme alongside a first-rate international education. It was established to nurture and grow the talent of young golfers and this exciting new appointment further cements that commitment.

Mr George Vance, Headmaster, says

"Since the launch of our Golf Academy, we’ve watched our talent flourish and have been in a strong position to attract gifted golfers, from our own shores and across the world. We know the time is right to advance the academy to the next level, so we’re delighted to have Debbie on board, who brings a wealth of talent and experience to the role and to Rockport.”
